Texas Hold’em poker

Author : admin 04/21/2011

Texas Hold’em, despite being one of the newer introductions to the world of online poker, is fast becoming the most popular online poker game on the net. There is an array of online casinos and gaming venues offering this particular version of the game.

Texas Hold’em in fact appears as a very simple game and plays in an easy to follow way, however, it is also one of the faster paced versions of the past time. Many experts label this version of the game as one of the more complex versions of the pastime, but it is still suitable for beginners. Practising first on any one of the ‘free’ online games is advisable.

Texas Hold’em consists of more players, bets, raises and re-raises than standard poker. Participants have the chance of winning big but losers will also lose big. This type of poker is therefore a little more risky than the other styles available.

The Button in Texas Hold’em acts as the dealer, which is used when playing on the computer. The button will move clockwise around the table after each hand, the player ‘on the button’ receives his hand last and will bet last on each round. Players must keep up with the current location of the button, as this will determine positional strategy.

Texas Hold’em has no ante, players are instead required to use blind bets in order to force an action. The two players’ to the left of the button place the blind bets. Normally the first player will put in the small blind, which is equal to half of the minimum bet, whilst the second player will put in the big blind, which is equal to the full minimum bet.

Starting with the first player who sits to the left of the button, each player will receive a total of two cards. These two cards are placed face down and act as the pocket cards. The player then takes the first action after the deal to the left of the button.
